The Most Holy Name of Jesus

Saturday remembrance
The Blessed Virgin Mary
Saturday is kept in filial remembrance of Our Lady, who remained faithful when Our Lord lay hidden in the tomb. Walk with Mary toward Jesus by imitating her faith, purity, recollection, and perseverance.
Intention
For growth in true devotion to Mary, the conversion of sinners, the protection of purity, and perseverance in the Catholic Faith.
A faithful act
Set the goal of praying the complete traditional Rosary today: all fifteen decades of the Joyful, Sorrowful, and Glorious Mysteries. Offer it for a definite intention, especially for the conversion and salvation of sinners. If the duties of your state require it, pray its three parts at different hours, but persevere toward completing the whole Rosary. Souls are in need: at Fatima, Our Lady warned that many souls go to hell because there is no one to make sacrifices and pray for them.
Prayer — The Magnificat
My soul doth magnify the Lord. And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour. Because he hath regarded the humility of his handmaid; for behold from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed. Because he that is mighty, hath done great things to me; and holy is his name. And his mercy is from generation unto generations, to them that fear him. Indulgences
The faithful who devoutly recite the Magnificat may gain an indulgence of three years; an indulgence of five years when it is recited on the feast of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary or on any Saturday of the year; and a plenary indulgence, under the usual conditions, when it is devoutly recited daily for an entire month.

The Church does not leave the faithful to pass through time as though days were neutral. This observance teaches the soul to receive the day under grace, to remember what God has done, and to let sacred time order study, prayer, and perseverance.
Ask Jesus living and reigning in Mary to live and reign throughout your entire soul, body, conduct, duties, and relationships.

“It is Thou only, my Jesus, who livest and reignest in her more perfectly than in all the Angels and the Blessed.”
Mary remains a creature transformed by grace; Jesus is her Creator, God, and King. Her greatness is precisely that He lives and reigns in her with incomparable perfection. She neither exists apart from Him nor keeps any glory for herself. Her love and praise exceed those of all other creatures because His grace has possessed her completely.
To approach Mary is therefore to encounter the perfect reign of Jesus in a human soul. Ask her to teach you the same order according to your measure: Christ living in the intellect by faith, in the will by charity, in the members by purity and obedience, in work by intention, and in suffering by union with His Cross.

Offer the day before spending it
Prayer gives the day its right beginning and its right end. Before work, conversation, news, or distraction claims the mind, adore the Blessed Trinity and offer every prayer, work, joy, suffering, and temptation to Jesus through Mary. Ask your Guardian Angel for help, and place the souls and needs entrusted to you beneath God's will.
Begin simply. Make the Morning Offering through the hands of Our Lady. Pray the Three Hail Marys for purity and final perseverance, ask your Guardian Angel to govern the senses and imagination, and name the soul or intention for which today's prayers and sacrifices will be offered. Do not rush these acts merely because they are familiar; let them place the whole day beneath God before the world begins to claim it.
O Lord, place this day beneath Thy Providence. Keep my mind in truth, my heart in charity, and my work in obedience until evening.

Being asked by the schismatics which was the better side, he repudiated the doctrine of Novatus, and affirming that the faith ought to be professed which the Chair of Peter taught, he presented his neck to the executioners. — In Africa, the passion of the holy martyrs Felician, Philappian, and one hundred and twenty-four others. — At Edessa, in Syria, in the reign of Trajan, St. Barsima3us, bishop, who converted many Gentiles to the faith, sent them before him to be crowned, and followed them with the palm of martyrdom. — In the same place, St. Barsen, bishop, renowned for the gift of curing diseases. Remain here for a little while. Receive today's Catholic truth as a child of Holy Mother Church; let it judge the heart, strengthen the will, and become an act offered to God.
The Church places this truth before you today: Catholic worship is centered on the true Sacrifice of the altar, offered by the priest in union with Christ the eternal High Priest. Do not hurry past it as though doctrine belonged only to books and controversies. A revealed truth is also a light by which the soul must judge its loyalties, its fears, its habits, and the duties immediately before it. The same sacrificial worship belongs to the Church throughout the world; it is not a local invention or a merely human assembly rite.
The grace to be practiced is Purity and steadfast worship, drawn from today's saintly witness. Ask God for more than the natural appearance of this virtue. Temperament may make an action seem easy for a time, but supernatural virtue remains faithful because God is worthy of obedience, even when feeling offers no assistance and no one notices the cost. Practice conformity to Christ by allowing His doctrine, virtues, commandments, intentions, and charity to govern every faculty.
There is also an enemy to recognize: Resist every reduction of the Mass to a memorial meal, community symbol, or religious performance. Do not study this danger only in other people. Look quietly for the door by which it seeks entrance into your own soul - perhaps through delay, curiosity, resentment, human respect, attachment to comfort, or the desire to control the outcome. Dying to self today means choosing purity and steadfast worship when pride, comfort, fear, resentment, or human respect asks for control.
Do the faithful act and entrust its fruit to divine Providence, God's wise and loving governance of all things. Place effort and outcome into Our Lady's hands so that the whole offering may be presented to her Divine Son. Confidence in God is not passivity: obey, pray, work, and accept that visible success, consolation, or immediate relief may not be given. God remains faithful when the duty is hidden and the outcome uncertain. Therefore, perform the duty that belongs to you, use the lawful means God has provided, and then surrender the fruit. Let Jesus reign where self-love most resists Him, accepting Mary's help in surrendering the interior strongholds of pride and fear. Consult Our Lady's dispositions in every duty and imitate her total submission so that Jesus may act and be glorified in you.

“We be all frail: but thou shalt judge no man more frail than thyself.”
Catholic judgment rejects error without forgetting one's own need of mercy. Let vigilance begin with the disorder nearest at hand: your own.
You need not call falsehood harmless in order to be humble. Humility simply refuses to use another person's fault as shelter from repentance. Condemn what God condemns, pray for the soul in danger, and then ask whether the same root - pride, fear, sensuality, or human respect - has found a quieter form in you.

When another's fault irritates you, pray for that soul and examine the same root in yourself.
Before Night Falls
Return the completed day to God.
Give thanks before measuring the day by feeling or visible success. Ask light to see faults without discouragement, make an Act of Contrition, forgive injuries, and place tomorrow beneath divine Providence.
Examine where Jesus reigned freely and where another master commanded, then renew your surrender through His holy Mother.
