A privileged call to reparation
First Saturday: Reparation to the Immaculate Heart of Mary
The first Saturday of the month is Our Lady's tender and urgent invitation to make reparation to her Immaculate Heart. She asks the faithful to confess, receive Holy Communion, pray five decades of the Rosary, and keep her company for fifteen minutes while meditating upon its mysteries, on five consecutive first Saturdays. Mary keeps nothing for herself: she gathers souls beneath her mantle in order to form them for Jesus Christ, hatred of sin, and perseverance beneath His Cross.
Our Lady's First Saturday Promise
In the devotion officially published by the Bishop of Leiria in 1939, Our Lady promises to assist at the hour of death, with the graces necessary for salvation, those who fulfill the requested acts on the first Saturday of five consecutive months. This maternal promise calls the soul to reparation, sacramental fidelity, the Rosary, and persevering companionship with Mary in the mysteries of her Divine Son.

The intention
In reparation for blasphemy, ingratitude, impurity, and contempt directed against Our Lady; for the conversion of sinners; and for the grace to imitate her recollection, purity, obedience, and unwavering fidelity to Jesus Christ.
Answer the invitation today
With the intention of making reparation, confess within the permitted time, receive Holy Communion worthily, pray five decades of the Rosary, and keep Our Lady company for fifteen minutes while meditating upon the mysteries of the Rosary. If sacramental participation is impossible today, begin with the acts that are possible and ask for the grace to keep the complete devotion faithfully.
Immaculate Heart of Mary, keep me with thee in the mysteries of Jesus. Obtain for me purity of heart, hatred of sin and heresy, fidelity to the Catholic Faith, and perseverance beneath the Cross. Place this day's prayer and sacrifice in the hands of thy Divine Son.

Saturday remembrance
The Blessed Virgin Mary
Saturday is kept in filial remembrance of Our Lady, who remained faithful when Our Lord lay hidden in the tomb. Walk with Mary toward Jesus by imitating her faith, purity, recollection, and perseverance.

For growth in true devotion to Mary, the conversion of sinners, the protection of purity, and perseverance in the Catholic Faith.
A faithful act
Set the goal of praying the complete traditional Rosary today: all fifteen decades of the Joyful, Sorrowful, and Glorious Mysteries. Offer it for a definite intention, especially for the conversion and salvation of sinners. If the duties of your state require it, pray its three parts at different hours, but persevere toward completing the whole Rosary. Souls are in need: at Fatima, Our Lady warned that many souls go to hell because there is no one to make sacrifices and pray for them.

Today the Church recalls that Christ entrusted His doctrine, sacraments, and authority to the apostles and commanded them to hand these gifts on. Catholics therefore receive the Faith from the Church rather than inventing it privately. They must also remember that sacred office is meant to serve revealed truth: holding an office and remaining faithful to its duties are related, but they are not identical.
Ask the Holy Ghost through Our Lady for the increase of every theological, moral, and necessary particular virtue.
Formation in True Devotion - Day 154: Review and Deepening: Mary's Maternal Formation of Christ's Members
“Strike the roots, My Well-beloved and My Spouse, of all your virtues in My elect, in order that they may grow from virtue to virtue, and from grace to grace.”
The Holy Ghost forms no shallow or selective holiness. St. Louis de Montfort names Mary's faith, humility, universal mortification, sublime prayer, ardent charity, firm hope, and other virtues as living roots to be planted in the elect. Devotion that excuses a ruling vice or neglects duty has resisted her formation.
Roots grow beneath the surface through repeated fidelity. Seek all the virtues required by your state and present defects honestly to grace. Let faith govern judgment, hope prevent discouragement, charity animate obedience, humility welcome correction, mortification restrain appetite, prudence choose the means, and perseverance carry the work to completion.

Offer the day before spending it
Prayer gives the day its right beginning and its right end. Before work, conversation, news, or distraction claims the mind, adore the Blessed Trinity and offer every prayer, work, joy, suffering, and temptation to Jesus through Mary. Ask your Guardian Angel for help, and place the souls and needs entrusted to you beneath God's will.
Begin simply. Make the Morning Offering through the hands of Our Lady. Pray the Three Hail Marys for purity and final perseverance, ask your Guardian Angel to govern the senses and imagination, and name the soul or intention for which today's prayers and sacrifices will be offered. Do not rush these acts merely because they are familiar; let them place the whole day beneath God before the world begins to claim it.
O Lord Jesus Christ, through Ss. Philip and James, make me humble before apostolic doctrine and willing to bring other souls to Thee.

“Philip findeth Nathanael, and saith unto him: We have found Him.”
- The Breviary remembers St. Philip as one of the first called, bringing Nathanael to Christ, receiving the Greeks who desired to see Jesus, and preaching after Pentecost.
- St. James governed Jerusalem, followed St. Peter's judgment at the apostolic council, defended the calling of the Gentiles, and wrote one of the Catholic Epistles.
- Both Apostles carry the faithful toward the Father's house: apostolic mission, visible government, Scripture, martyrdom, and communion in Christ belong together.

The birthday of the blessed apostles Philip and James. Philip, after having converted nearly all Scythia to the faith of Christ, went to Hierapolis, in Asia, where he was fastened to a cross, overwhelmed with stones, and thus terminated his life gloriously. James, who is also called the brother of our Lord, was the first bishop of Jerusalem. Being hurled down from a pinnacle of the temple, he had his legs broken, and being then struck on the head with a dyer's staff, he expired, and was buried near the temple. — In Egypt, St. Jeremias, prophet, wTho was stoned to death by the people at. Taphnas, where he was interred. St. Epiphanius relates that the faithful were wont to pray at his grave, and to take away from it dust to heal those who were stung by serpents. — In France, in the province of Vivarais, blessed Andeol, subdeacon, who was sent from the East into Gaul with others by St. Polycarp to preach the word of God. Christ reveals the Father and declares Himself the only way to Him.
The apostles are formed not by vague spirituality, but by seeing and hearing the Incarnate Truth.
Their feast teaches the soul to stop looking for a safer road than Christ. There is no way to the Father around the Son.
This Gospel corrects a danger that can quietly deform Catholic judgment: The indifferentism that imagines many contradictory ways to the same truth. Ask where that danger seeks your consent today, and answer it with the act Our Lord requires.

The Four Marks Are Not Decorative
Remain here for a little while. The purpose is not to gather another fact, but to allow today's Catholic truth to judge the heart, strengthen the will, and become an act offered to God.
The Church places this truth before you today: The Church must be one, holy, Catholic, and apostolic because she bears the identity Christ gave her, not because men assign those titles by preference. Do not hurry past it as though doctrine belonged only to books and controversies. A revealed truth is also a light by which the soul must judge its loyalties, its fears, its habits, and the duties immediately before it. The marks are tests of recognition. They prevent the faithful from confusing religious intensity, social size, antiquarian taste, or institutional claims with the true Church.
The grace to be practiced is Apostolic receptivity, drawn from today's saintly witness. Ask God for more than the natural appearance of this virtue. Temperament may make an action seem easy for a time, but supernatural virtue remains faithful because God is worthy of obedience, even when feeling offers no assistance and no one notices the cost. Practice the whole order of virtue throughout the day, giving special vigilance to the defects that most frequently oppose grace.
There is also an enemy to recognize: Resist treating the marks as poetic language detached from visible doctrine, worship, and apostolic continuity. Do not study this danger only in other people. Look quietly for the door by which it seeks entrance into your own soul - perhaps through delay, curiosity, resentment, human respect, attachment to comfort, or the desire to control the outcome. Dying to self today means choosing apostolic receptivity when pride, comfort, fear, resentment, or human respect asks for control.
Do the faithful act and entrust its fruit to divine Providence, God's wise and loving governance of all things. Place effort and outcome into Our Lady's hands so that the whole offering may be presented to her Divine Son. Confidence in God is not passivity: obey, pray, work, and accept that visible success, consolation, or immediate relief may not be given. God remains faithful when the duty is hidden and the outcome uncertain. Therefore, perform the duty that belongs to you, use the lawful means God has provided, and then surrender the fruit. Accept sustained discipline, hidden repetition, and slow growth without replacing real virtue with passing fervor or token sacrifice. Fulfill all prayers, duties, penances, acts of charity, and occasions of witness with faith, hope, charity, prudence, justice, fortitude, and temperance.

How shall I imitate Christ today?
“Fight strongly therefore against all sins, and dread not overmuch, although thou be encumbered by an evil custom, for that evil custom may be overcome with a good custom.”
Habit is formed by repeated consent. Under grace, a small faithful act repeated daily becomes a defense against the sin that once seemed immovable.
Do not wait for a dramatic conversion of temperament. Grace commonly asks for the next contrary act: silence instead of complaint, custody instead of curiosity, prayer instead of brooding, prompt duty instead of delay. Repeated fidelity clears a path by which the will learns to move more readily toward God.

Oppose your recurring bad habit with its contrary good acts throughout the day.
Before Night Falls
Return the completed day to God.
Give thanks before measuring the day by feeling or visible success. Ask light to see faults without discouragement, make an Act of Contrition, forgive injuries, and place tomorrow beneath divine Providence.
Examine the roots and fruits of the day, thanking God for growth and naming every vice that must be confessed, uprooted, and opposed tomorrow.
