A faithful act
Set the goal of praying the complete traditional Rosary today: all fifteen decades of the Joyful, Sorrowful, and Glorious Mysteries. Offer it for a definite intention, especially for the conversion and salvation of sinners. If the duties of your state require it, pray its three parts at different hours, but persevere toward completing the whole Rosary. Souls are in need: at Fatima, Our Lady warned that many souls go to hell because there is no one to make sacrifices and pray for them.

“He heard her prayers when she begged to be hidden, to be humbled and to be treated as in all respects poor and of no account.”
This prayer of Our Lady is severe only to the part of us that desires religious importance. She does not ask to be separated from God, but to be freed from the false greatness that would draw the heart toward itself. Her littleness makes room for the mighty works of the Lord because she does not seize them as material for self-exaltation.
Do not manufacture humiliation or permit injustice when duty requires a response. But when Providence allows you to be overlooked, misunderstood, or assigned an ordinary place, watch the inward protest. There you may offer Mary something real: the claim of self-love to be accounted greater than God has presently appointed.

Offer the day before spending it
Prayer gives the day its right beginning and its right end. Before work, conversation, news, or distraction claims the mind, adore the Blessed Trinity and offer every prayer, work, joy, suffering, and temptation to Jesus through Mary. Ask your Guardian Angel for help, and place the souls and needs entrusted to you beneath God's will.
Begin simply. Make the Morning Offering through the hands of Our Lady. Pray the Three Hail Marys for purity and final perseverance, ask your Guardian Angel to govern the senses and imagination, and name the soul or intention for which today's prayers and sacrifices will be offered. Do not rush these acts merely because they are familiar; let them place the whole day beneath God before the world begins to claim it.
O Sacred Heart of Jesus, make reparation a lasting habit in me. Through St. Juliana, give me purity, Eucharistic hunger, Marian fidelity, and charity toward the suffering.

“The Divine Bread at once disappeared from sight.”
- The Breviary presents St. Juliana as a Florentine virgin formed from childhood in the names of Jesus and Mary, modesty, chastity, and horror of sin.
- Before she had finished her fifteenth year, she renounced inheritance and earthly marriage, received the Servite habit from St. Philip Benizi, and became mother of the Mantled nuns.
- Her rule, humility, prayer, peacemaking, service of the sick, bodily mortification, and Eucharistic death teach that devotion to Our Lady of Sorrows must become purity, reparation, mercy, and sacramental longing.

At Florence, St. Juliana Falconieri, virgin, foundress of the Sisters of the Order of the Servants of the Blessed Virgin Mary, who was placed among the holy virgins by the Sovereign Pontiff, Clement XII. — At Milan, the holy martyrs Gervasius and Protasius, brothers. The former, by order of the judge Astasius, was so long scourged with leaded whips, that he expired. The latter, after being scourged with rods, was beheaded. Through divine revelation their bodies were found by St. Ambrose. They were partly covered with blood, and as free from corruption as if they had been put to death that very day. When the translation took place, a blind man recovered his sight by touching their relics, and many persons possessed by demons were delivered. — At Ravenna, St. Ursicinus, martyr, who remained firm through many torments in the confession of the Lord, and consummated his martyrdom by capital punishment, under the judge Paulinus. — At Sozopolis, under the governor Domitian, during the persecution of Trajan, St. Zosimus, martyr, who suffered bitter tortures, was beheaded, and thus triumphantly went to heaven. — At Arezzo, in Tuscany, the holy martyrs Gaudentius, bishop, and Culmatius, deacon, who were murdered by the furious Gentiles, during the reign of Valentinian. — The same day, St. Boniface, martyr, a disciple of blessed Romuald, who was sent by the Koman Pontiff to preach the Gospel in Eussia. Doctrine Develops Without Becoming Another Doctrine
Remain here for a little while. The purpose is not to gather another fact, but to allow today's Catholic truth to judge the heart, strengthen the will, and become an act offered to God.
The Church places this truth before you today: True growth in Catholic doctrine preserves the same meaning and the same judgment; it unfolds what was received, without changing the faith into a novelty. Do not hurry past it as though doctrine belonged only to books and controversies. A revealed truth is also a light by which the soul must judge its loyalties, its fears, its habits, and the duties immediately before it. Unity of faith is protected when later expression remains identical in substance with what the Church has always taught.
The grace to be practiced is Eucharistic longing and Marian purity, drawn from today's saintly witness. Ask God for more than the natural appearance of this virtue. Temperament may make an action seem easy for a time, but supernatural virtue remains faithful because God is worthy of obedience, even when feeling offers no assistance and no one notices the cost. Humility receives truth about oneself from God and does not require either praise or false self-contempt.
There is also an enemy to recognize: Resist the modernist notion that dogma may change its meaning according to the religious needs of an age. Do not study this danger only in other people. Look quietly for the door by which it seeks entrance into your own soul - perhaps through delay, curiosity, resentment, human respect, attachment to comfort, or the desire to control the outcome. Dying to self today means choosing eucharistic longing and Marian purity when pride, comfort, fear, resentment, or human respect asks for control.
Do the faithful act and entrust its fruit to divine Providence, God's wise and loving governance of all things. Place effort and outcome into Our Lady's hands so that the whole offering may be presented to her Divine Son. Confidence in God is not passivity: obey, pray, work, and accept that visible success, consolation, or immediate relief may not be given. God remains faithful when the duty is hidden and the outcome uncertain. Therefore, perform the duty that belongs to you, use the lawful means God has provided, and then surrender the fruit. When overlooked, remain charitable and exact in duty instead of withdrawing your good will. Let useful acts remain unannounced whenever charity does not require them to be known.

“Virtue appeareth best in time of adversity. Occasions make not a man frail, but they shew openly what he is.”
The trial does not excuse the fault; it reveals where grace must be received and nature mortified. Do not waste the revelation God permits.
When adversity uncovers impatience or fear, do not conclude that every previous effort was false. Thank God for showing you where the wall remains weak. Humble yourself, ask pardon if another was wounded, and return to the battle with a more honest knowledge of your need for grace.
Today's Practice
At the next contradiction, name the virtue being tested and practice it once.
Before Night Falls
Return the completed day to God.
Give thanks before measuring the day by feeling or visible success. Ask light to see faults without discouragement, make an Act of Contrition, forgive injuries, and place tomorrow beneath divine Providence.
Examine the moments when being of little account disturbed your peace more than offending God would have done.
