The Blessed Virgin Mary
Saturday is kept in filial remembrance of Our Lady, who remained faithful when Our Lord lay hidden in the tomb. Walk with Mary toward Jesus by imitating her faith, purity, recollection, and perseverance.

For growth in true devotion to Mary, the conversion of sinners, the protection of purity, and perseverance in the Catholic Faith.
A faithful act
Set the goal of praying the complete traditional Rosary today: all fifteen decades of the Joyful, Sorrowful, and Glorious Mysteries. Offer it for a definite intention, especially for the conversion and salvation of sinners. If the duties of your state require it, pray its three parts at different hours, but persevere toward completing the whole Rosary. Souls are in need: at Fatima, Our Lady warned that many souls go to hell because there is no one to make sacrifices and pray for them.

My soul doth magnify the Lord. And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour. Because he hath regarded the humility of his handmaid; for behold from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed. Because he that is mighty, hath done great things to me; and holy is his name. And his mercy is from generation unto generations, to them that fear him. The faithful who devoutly recite the Magnificat may gain an indulgence of three years; an indulgence of five years when it is recited on the feast of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary or on any Saturday of the year; and a plenary indulgence, under the usual conditions, when it is devoutly recited daily for an entire month.

Ss. John and Paul served honorably in an imperial household but refused Julian's demand for apostasy and sacrifice to Jupiter. Their martyrdom teaches that position, property, and civil pressure remain beneath Christ; when authority demands false worship, fidelity must refuse even at the cost of security.
Ask God for light to understand true devotion and humility to correct every belief, expression, motive, or practice that lacks solidity.

“I must now show in what this devotion consists. This I will do, by God's help, after I shall have first presupposed some fundamental truths, which shall throw light on that grand and solid devotion which I desire to disclose.”
True devotion requires discernment. Intensity of feeling, abundance of words, attachment to an image, or multiplication of practices cannot establish its truth. St. Louis de Montfort begins with fundamental truths because devotion must rest upon revealed doctrine and lead the entire soul into God's order.
Let the course examine you rather than merely informing you. Be ready to reject presumption, scrupulosity, superstition, spiritual vanity, curiosity, inconsistency, and every Marian expression that obscures Christ. Grand devotion is also solid: doctrinally exact, sacramental, virtuous, persevering, and fruitful in duty and charity.

Offer the day before spending it
Prayer gives the day its right beginning and its right end. Before work, conversation, news, or distraction claims the mind, adore the Blessed Trinity and offer every prayer, work, joy, suffering, and temptation to Jesus through Mary. Ask your Guardian Angel for help, and place the souls and needs entrusted to you beneath God's will.
Begin simply. Make the Morning Offering through the hands of Our Lady. Pray the Three Hail Marys for purity and final perseverance, ask your Guardian Angel to govern the senses and imagination, and name the soul or intention for which today's prayers and sacrifices will be offered. Do not rush these acts merely because they are familiar; let them place the whole day beneath God before the world begins to claim it.
O Lord Jesus Christ, through Thy martyrs John and Paul, keep my allegiance undivided. Give me courage to refuse false worship without bitterness and to prefer Thy household to every earthly advantage.

At Rome, on Mount Coelius, the holy martyrs John and Paul, brothers. The former was steward, the other secretary of the virgin Constantia, daughter of the emperor Constantine. The Church places this truth before you today: Apostolic tradition is not nostalgia. It is the handing down of what the Church received from Christ and the Apostles. Do not hurry past it as though doctrine belonged only to books and controversies. A revealed truth is also a light by which the soul must judge its loyalties, its fears, its habits, and the duties immediately before it. Tradition protects the faithful from the tyranny of the present moment and from teachers who mistake novelty for life.
The grace to be practiced is Fraternal martyr fidelity, drawn from today's saintly witness. Ask God for more than the natural appearance of this virtue. Temperament may make an action seem easy for a time, but supernatural virtue remains faithful because God is worthy of obedience, even when feeling offers no assistance and no one notices the cost. Practice teachability by receiving fundamental Catholic truths before trusting preference, emotion, habit, private interpretation, or appearance.
There is also an enemy to recognize: Resist innovation that claims continuity while contradicting what was handed down. Do not study this danger only in other people. Look quietly for the door by which it seeks entrance into your own soul - perhaps through delay, curiosity, resentment, human respect, attachment to comfort, or the desire to control the outcome. Dying to self today means choosing fraternal martyr fidelity when pride, comfort, fear, resentment, or human respect asks for control.
Do the faithful act and entrust its fruit to divine Providence, God's wise and loving governance of all things. Place effort and outcome into Our Lady's hands so that the whole offering may be presented to her Divine Son. Confidence in God is not passivity: obey, pray, work, and accept that visible success, consolation, or immediate relief may not be given. God remains faithful when the duty is hidden and the outcome uncertain. Therefore, perform the duty that belongs to you, use the lawful means God has provided, and then surrender the fruit. Accept the loss of cherished religious ideas or practices if careful examination shows them to be false, exaggerated, or disordered. Make every devotion doctrinally sound, centered upon Christ, joined to Catholic worship, and fruitful throughout all commandments and duties.
