Good Morning, Pilgrim
Receive this day as a child of Holy Mother Church.
Christ is risen, has ascended in His glorified humanity, and reigns in Heaven. The Church and her members still suffer on earth, but their trials do not overturn His victory. Christian hope is therefore more than an encouraging feeling: it trusts Christ's promise of resurrection and eternal life and gives the faithful a reason to persevere in obedience today.
Consecrate the whole soil of the soul to Jesus through Mary and ask that no attachment resist the roots of her virtues.
Formation in True Devotion - Day 185: Review and Deepening: Mary's Spiritual Reign and Necessity in God's Order
“When Mary has struck her roots in a soul, she produces there marvels of grace, which she alone can produce, because she alone is the fruitful Virgin, who never has had, and never will have, her equal in purity and in fruitfulness.”
St. Louis de Montfort immediately joins these marvels to Mary's union with the Holy Ghost and to the formation of great Saints. He does not promise spiritual novelty, curiosity about the latter times, or greatness in the eyes of the world. The marvel is a creature made holy by grace, conformed to Jesus Christ, and prepared to defend His cause.
A root must possess the soil before it can bear fruit. Give Our Lady no decorative corner of life while passions, habits, opinions, possessions, and plans remain under self-will. Let her purity expose compromise, her faith reject error, her humility dethrone pride, and her fruitfulness multiply prayer, sacrifice, duty, and works of mercy for souls.

Offer the day before spending it
Prayer gives the day its right beginning and its right end. Before work, conversation, news, or distraction claims the mind, adore the Blessed Trinity and offer every prayer, work, joy, suffering, and temptation to Jesus through Mary. Ask your Guardian Angel for help, and place the souls and needs entrusted to you beneath God's will.
Begin simply. Make the Morning Offering through the hands of Our Lady. Pray the Three Hail Marys for purity and final perseverance, ask your Guardian Angel to govern the senses and imagination, and name the soul or intention for which today's prayers and sacrifices will be offered. Do not rush these acts merely because they are familiar; let them place the whole day beneath God before the world begins to claim it.
O Lord, strengthen the little duties of this day with Thy grace, that nothing entrusted to me may be wasted through negligence or vanity.

Roman Breviary, Proper lesson for St. Felix I
“He decreed that Mass should be celebrated over the memorials and tombs of the martyrs.”
- The Breviary remembers Pope St. Felix governing the Roman Church under the Emperor Aurelian and ordering that the Holy Sacrifice be offered over the memorials and tombs of the martyrs.
- Catholic worship therefore keeps altar, sacrifice, relics, and martyr witness together: the saints are honored because Christ's victory and Sacrifice made their fidelity possible.
- The pope who regulated this sacred remembrance himself received the martyr's crown and was buried on the Via Aurelia in the basilica he had built and dedicated.

Third Lesson - Pope, Liturgical Lawgiver, and Martyr
Felix, a Roman whose father was Constantius, governed the Church under the Emperor Aurelian. He decreed that Mass should be celebrated over the memorials and tombs of the martyrs. Having held two ordinations in the month of December and created nine priests, five deacons, and five bishops for various places, he was crowned with martyrdom and buried on the Via Aurelia in the basilica which he himself had built and dedicated. He lived in the pontificate for two years, four months, and twenty-nine days.

Remain here for a little while. Receive today's Catholic truth as a child of Holy Mother Church; let it judge the heart, strengthen the will, and become an act offered to God.
The Church places this truth before you today: The sacraments are outward signs instituted by Christ to give grace; they are not symbols invented by the community. Do not hurry past it as though doctrine belonged only to books and controversies. A revealed truth is also a light by which the soul must judge its loyalties, its fears, its habits, and the duties immediately before it. Because Christ instituted the sacraments, the Church must guard their matter, form, minister, and intention with holy fear.
The grace to be practiced is Shepherding fidelity unto witness, drawn from today's saintly witness. Ask God for more than the natural appearance of this virtue. Temperament may make an action seem easy for a time, but supernatural virtue remains faithful because God is worthy of obedience, even when feeling offers no assistance and no one notices the cost. Practice fruitful purity by rejecting sin and filling the day with faithful prayer, duty, reparation, charity, and Catholic witness.
There is also an enemy to recognize: Resist sacramental casualness, especially the idea that good intention can repair invalid rites or invented forms. Do not study this danger only in other people. Look quietly for the door by which it seeks entrance into your own soul - perhaps through delay, curiosity, resentment, human respect, attachment to comfort, or the desire to control the outcome. Dying to self today means choosing shepherding fidelity unto witness when pride, comfort, fear, resentment, or human respect asks for control.
Do the faithful act and entrust its fruit to divine Providence, God's wise and loving governance of all things. Place effort and outcome into Our Lady's hands so that the whole offering may be presented to her Divine Son. Confidence in God is not passivity: obey, pray, work, and accept that visible success, consolation, or immediate relief may not be given. God remains faithful when the duty is hidden and the outcome uncertain. Therefore, perform the duty that belongs to you, use the lawful means God has provided, and then surrender the fruit. Accept the hidden breaking of hard soil: correction, denied preference, patient labor, and the uprooting of habits opposed to holiness. Carry every duty to its proper completion and offer its fruits through Our Lady for the glory of Jesus Christ and the salvation of souls.

The citizen of Heaven uses earthly goods faithfully without building his final home in them. Receive the day's joys and sorrows as provisions for the road.
Exile becomes bitter when the soul demands permanence from what must pass. Let today's change, disappointment, or small loss remind you gently of your destination. Fulfill earthly duties well precisely because they are the road appointed by God, but keep the heart free for the City that does not pass away.

Before Night Falls
Return the completed day to God.
Give thanks before measuring the day by feeling or visible success. Ask light to see faults without discouragement, make an Act of Contrition, forgive injuries, and place tomorrow beneath divine Providence.
Examine whether Marian devotion entered the roots of your choices or remained an exterior ornament without command over conduct.
