Ask Our Lady, Queen of All Saints, to keep your household beneath Christ and to make sanctity its true desire.

“The most holy Virgin being necessary to God by a necessity which we call hypothetical, in consequence of His Will, she is far more necessary to men, in order for them to arrive at their Last End.”
God has no absolute need of any creature. The word hypothetical guards this truth: Mary's office is necessary because God freely willed to accomplish His designs through her, not because His power or perfection lacked anything. What He chose in sovereign freedom, man must not dismiss as optional sentiment.
Our Last End is God Himself. True devotion to Our Lady therefore cannot end in private consolation, cultural attachment, or an isolated exercise. It must help the soul believe Christ's truth, live in His grace, obey His commandments, worship worthily, fulfill every duty, and persevere toward eternal union with Him.

Offer the day before spending it
Prayer gives the day its right beginning and its right end. Before work, conversation, news, or distraction claims the mind, adore the Blessed Trinity and offer every prayer, work, joy, suffering, and temptation to Jesus through Mary. Ask your Guardian Angel for help, and place the souls and needs entrusted to you beneath God's will.
Begin simply. Make the Morning Offering through the hands of Our Lady. Pray the Three Hail Marys for purity and final perseverance, ask your Guardian Angel to govern the senses and imagination, and name the soul or intention for which today's prayers and sacrifices will be offered. Do not rush these acts merely because they are familiar; let them place the whole day beneath God before the world begins to claim it.
O Lord, make my charity patient without weakness, firm without harshness, and always ordered toward the salvation of souls.

“As they could not be prevailed upon to abandon the faith of Christ, they were beheaded.”
- The Martyrology first announces the Vigil of All Saints, turning the evening toward preparation for the whole company of heaven.
- It then remembers the deacon Nemesius and his virgin daughter Lucilla, who could not be induced to abandon the Faith, together with other martyrs and apostolic disciples who suffered for the Gospel.

The vigil of All Saints.
At Rome, the birthday of blessed Nemesius, deacon, and his daughter, the virgin Lucilla. As they could not be prevailed upon to abandon the faith of Christ, they were beheaded on the 25th of August by order of the emperor Valerian. Their bodies were buried by the blessed pope Stephen, and afterwards more decently entombed on this day, on the Appian road, by blessed Xystus. Gregory V translated them into the sacristy of Santa Maria Nova, together with the Saints Symphronius, Olympius, tribune, Exuperia, his wife, and Theodulus, his son, who, being all converted by the exertions of Symphronius, and baptized by the same St. Stephen, had been crowned with martyrdom. These holy bodies were found there during the Pontificate of Gregory XIII, and placed more honorably beneath the altar of the same church, on the 8th of December.
The same day, the Saints Ampliatus, Urbanus and Narcissus, who are mentioned by St. Paul in his epistle to the Romans. They were put to death by the Jews and Gentiles for the Gospel of Christ.
At Saint-Quentin, in France, St. Quinctinus, Roman citizen and senator, who endured martyrdom under the emperor Maximian. By the revelation of an angel, his body was found incorrupt after the lapse of fifty-five years.
At Constantinople, St. Stachis, bishop, who was consecrated first bishop of that city by the blessed apostle Andrew.

The older Roman calendar keeps October 31 as the Vigil of All Saints, a day of sober preparation before the Church rejoices in the whole company of the blessed.
The vigil turns Christian attention toward sanctity, judgment, death, and the heavenly homeland. It leaves no room for fascination with occult evil, superstition, or entertainment that makes darkness appear harmless.
Keep watch facing the City of God. The Christian answer to darkness is neither fear nor play, but faith in Christ, prayer, and desire to join His saints.

Modernism Is the Synthesis of Heresies
Remain here for a little while. Receive today's Catholic truth as a child of Holy Mother Church; let it judge the heart, strengthen the will, and become an act offered to God.
The Church places this truth before you today: Modernism corrodes the faith from within by subjecting revelation, dogma, worship, and authority to religious experience and historical change. Do not hurry past it as though doctrine belonged only to books and controversies. A revealed truth is also a light by which the soul must judge its loyalties, its fears, its habits, and the duties immediately before it. The Catholic answer is not panic but firm adherence to objective revelation, defined dogma, apostolic tradition, and the anti-modernist judgments of the Church.
The grace to be practiced is Sober preparation for holiness and heaven, drawn from today's saintly witness. Ask God for more than the natural appearance of this virtue. Temperament may make an action seem easy for a time, but supernatural virtue remains faithful because God is worthy of obedience, even when feeling offers no assistance and no one notices the cost. Practice holy seriousness by judging prayer, work, recreation, possessions, and relationships in the light of salvation and eternity.
There is also an enemy to recognize: Resist the language of continuity when it is used to smuggle contradiction into Catholic words. Do not study this danger only in other people. Look quietly for the door by which it seeks entrance into your own soul - perhaps through delay, curiosity, resentment, human respect, attachment to comfort, or the desire to control the outcome. Dying to self today means choosing sober preparation for holiness and heaven when pride, comfort, fear, resentment, or human respect asks for control.
Do the faithful act and entrust its fruit to divine Providence, God's wise and loving governance of all things. Place effort and outcome into Our Lady's hands so that the whole offering may be presented to her Divine Son. Confidence in God is not passivity: obey, pray, work, and accept that visible success, consolation, or immediate relief may not be given. God remains faithful when the duty is hidden and the outcome uncertain. Therefore, perform the duty that belongs to you, use the lawful means God has provided, and then surrender the fruit. Renounce the proud demand that God save and sanctify you according to a route chosen by your own preferences. Use the full Catholic means God provides—faith, prayer, sacrifice, sacraments, duty, charity, and Our Lady's intercession—to advance toward Him.

How shall I imitate Christ today?
“Then shall a good clean conscience make us more gladsome and merry than the cunning of all philosophy.”
At judgment, appearances will fall away and the soul will stand in truth before God. Learning, reputation, and skill have their proper uses, but none can replace a conscience purified by repentance and kept faithful through obedience.
Do not seek peace by avoiding examination. Ask the Holy Ghost to show you every matter that remains unsettled: sins requiring confession, injuries requiring forgiveness, restitution that can be made, or duties repeatedly postponed. A clean conscience is not sinlessness claimed by pride; it is the peace of a soul that refuses concealment and returns to grace.

Settle every matter of conscience that can rightly be settled today, and prepare definitely to bring the rest to Confession.
Before Night Falls
Return the completed day to God.
Give thanks before measuring the day by feeling or visible success. Ask light to see faults without discouragement, make an Act of Contrition, forgive injuries, and place tomorrow beneath divine Providence.
Review the day beneath your Last End, rejecting whatever led away from God and entrusting every good fruit to Mary.
