The Seven Sorrows of the Blessed Virgin Mary
Our Lady did not flee the Cross. By remembering her sorrows, the pilgrim learns compassion for the Passion of Christ, patience in affliction, and fidelity when consolation is withdrawn.

For those crushed by grief, for sinners at the hour of death, and for the grace to carry every cross without abandoning Christ.

Saturday remembrance
The Blessed Virgin Mary
Saturday is kept in filial remembrance of Our Lady, who remained faithful when Our Lord lay hidden in the tomb. Walk with Mary toward Jesus by imitating her faith, purity, recollection, and perseverance.
Intention
For growth in true devotion to Mary, the conversion of sinners, the protection of purity, and perseverance in the Catholic Faith.
A faithful act
Set the goal of praying the complete traditional Rosary today: all fifteen decades of the Joyful, Sorrowful, and Glorious Mysteries. Offer it for a definite intention, especially for the conversion and salvation of sinners. If the duties of your state require it, pray its three parts at different hours, but persevere toward completing the whole Rosary. Souls are in need: at Fatima, Our Lady warned that many souls go to hell because there is no one to make sacrifices and pray for them.

Blessed Mother, keep me under thy mantle, receive this day into thy hands, and lead me in all things to Jesus.

At Emmaus, the birthday of blessed Cleophas, disciple of Christ. It is related that he was killed by the Jews, for the confession of our Lord, in the same house in which he had entertained Him, and where he was honorably buried. — At Rome, under the emperor Antoninus, St. Herculanus, soldier and martyr, who, being converted to Christ by the miracles wrought during the martyrdom of the, blessed bishop Alexander, was put to the sword, after enduring many torments. — At Amiens, in France, in the persecution of Diocletian, blessed Firmin, bishop. Under the governor Rictiovarus, after various torments, he suffered martyrdom by being beheaded. — At Damascus, the holy martyr Paul, Tata, his wife, and Sabinian, Maximus, Rufus, and Eugenius, their sons. The faithful Virgin kept before the Church on Saturday.
The Saturday Mass of the Blessed Virgin Mary keeps Our Lady before the faithful during ordinary weeks, teaching that Christian perseverance remains Marian: humble, obedient, recollected, and near Christ.
This observance does not turn attention away from Our Lord. It shows the soul how to receive Him: hearing the word of God, keeping it, and remaining faithful when the week has been ordinary.
For the faithful in exile, Saturday can become a weekly return to the Mother. She teaches purity without coldness, firmness without pride, and patience when the road feels hidden.
Virtue to practice
Marian recollection and obedient hearing.
Error to resist
The habit of treating days without a greater feast as spiritually empty.
For the pilgrim in exile
Let Saturday become a small Marian gate in the week. In exile, ordinary days need a motherly refuge as much as feast days do.

The Church Made Public
At Pentecost the Holy Ghost strengthened the apostles to preach Christ publicly and carry the Gospel to the nations. His work is not private excitement separated from doctrine, worship, and the authority Christ established. The faithful should ask Him for zeal that makes them more obedient to revealed truth, more constant in charity, and more courageous in Catholic witness.
