Saturday remembrance
The Blessed Virgin Mary
Saturday is kept in filial remembrance of Our Lady, who remained faithful when Our Lord lay hidden in the tomb. Walk with Mary toward Jesus by imitating her faith, purity, recollection, and perseverance.
Intention
For growth in true devotion to Mary, the conversion of sinners, the protection of purity, and perseverance in the Catholic Faith.
A faithful act
Set the goal of praying the complete traditional Rosary today: all fifteen decades of the Joyful, Sorrowful, and Glorious Mysteries. Offer it for a definite intention, especially for the conversion and salvation of sinners. If the duties of your state require it, pray its three parts at different hours, but persevere toward completing the whole Rosary. Souls are in need: at Fatima, Our Lady warned that many souls go to hell because there is no one to make sacrifices and pray for them.

Blessed Mother, keep me under thy mantle, receive this day into thy hands, and lead me in all things to Jesus.

At Antioch, the holy martyrs Basileus, bishop, Auxilius, and Saturninus. — In Persia, St. James Intercisus, a distinguished martyr. In the time of Theodosius the Younger, he denied Christ to please king Isdegerdes, but his mother and his wife having for that reason withdrawn from his company, he entered into himself, and returned to the king to declare his faith in our Lord, whereupon the irritated monarch condemned him to be cut to pieces and beheaded. Countless other martyrs suffered at this time in the same country. — At Sebaste, in Armenia, the holy martyrs Hirenarchus, Acacius, priest, and seven women. Struck with the constancy of these women, Hirenarchus was converted to Christ, and with Acacius died under the axe, in the reign of the emperor Diocletian and under the governor Maximus. — In Galicia, on the river C«a, the Saints Facundus and Primitivus, who suffered under the governor Atticus. — At Aquileia, St. Valerian, bishop. — At Riez, in France, St. Maximus, bishop and confessor, who, from his tender years, was endowed with every grace and virtue. The faithful Virgin kept before the Church on Saturday.
The Saturday Mass of the Blessed Virgin Mary keeps Our Lady before the faithful during ordinary weeks, teaching that Christian perseverance remains Marian: humble, obedient, recollected, and near Christ.
This observance does not turn attention away from Our Lord. It shows the soul how to receive Him: hearing the word of God, keeping it, and remaining faithful when the week has been ordinary.
For the faithful in exile, Saturday can become a weekly return to the Mother. She teaches purity without coldness, firmness without pride, and patience when the road feels hidden.
Virtue to practice
Marian recollection and obedient hearing.

The habit of treating days without a greater feast as spiritually empty.
For the pilgrim in exile
Let Saturday become a small Marian gate in the week. In exile, ordinary days need a motherly refuge as much as feast days do.

- Imitate Our Lady by hearing the word of God and keeping it.
- Ask her to preserve reverence, purity, and fidelity in ordinary duties.

Remember the graces received, the sins pardoned, the duties neglected, and the crosses that carried hidden mercy.
