April intention
The Most Blessed Sacrament
Our Lord remains truly, really, and substantially present beneath the sacramental appearances. Let this month deepen Eucharistic faith, reverence at Mass, and reparation for neglect of the altar.
Intention
For worthy Communions, holy priests, reparation for sacrilege, and the restoration of faith in the Real Presence.
A faithful act
Make a reverent visit to the Blessed Sacrament, or pause for a deliberate spiritual Communion when a visit is not possible.
Prayer
Lord Jesus Christ, truly present in the Most Blessed Sacrament, increase our faith and receive our adoration and reparation.
Saturday remembrance
The Blessed Virgin Mary
Saturday is kept in filial remembrance of Our Lady, who remained faithful when Our Lord lay hidden in the tomb. Walk with Mary toward Jesus by imitating her faith, purity, recollection, and perseverance.
Intention
For growth in true devotion to Mary, the conversion of sinners, the protection of purity, and perseverance in the Catholic Faith.
A faithful act
Set the goal of praying the complete traditional Rosary today: all fifteen decades of the Joyful, Sorrowful, and Glorious Mysteries. Offer it for a definite intention, especially for the conversion and salvation of sinners. If the duties of your state require it, pray its three parts at different hours, but persevere toward completing the whole Rosary. Souls are in need: at Fatima, Our Lady warned that many souls go to hell because there is no one to make sacrifices and pray for them.
Prayer
Blessed Mother, keep me under thy mantle, receive this day into thy hands, and lead me in all things to Jesus.

At Alexandria, in the time of the emperor Maximian Galerius, the martyr St..ZEdesius, brother of the blessed Apphian. Because he reproved the wicked judge publicly for delivering to corruptors virgins consecrated to God, he was arrested by the soldiers, exposed to the most severe torments, and thrown into the sea for Christ our Lord. — In Africa, the holy martyrs Januarius, Maxima, and Macaria. — At Carthage, St. Concessa, martyr. — The same day, the commemoration of the Saints Herodion, Asyncritus and Phlegon, who are mentioned by the blessed apostle Paul in his epistle to the Romans. — At Corinth, the bishop St. Denis, who instructed not only the people of his own city and province by the learning and unction with which he preached the word of God, but also the bishops of other cities and provinces by the letters which he wrote to them. His veneration for the Roman Pontiffs was such that he used to read their epistles publicly in the church on Sundays. He lived in the time of Marcus Antoninus Verus and Lucius Aurelius Commodus. — At Tours, the holy bishop Perpetuus, a man of wonderful sanctity. — At Ferentino, in Campania, St. Redemptus, bishop, mentioned by pope St. Gregory. — At Como, St. Amantius, bishop and confessor.

The Passiontide Feria
The veiled days near the Passion of Our Lord.
The ferias of Passiontide draw the faithful nearer to the sufferings of Christ, when the Church's prayer grows more grave and the Cross comes into sharper view.
These days teach that the Passion is not only remembered on Good Friday. The soul is led step by step into compunction, reparation, silence, and fidelity to the rejected Messias.
This is a good time to stop explaining away small betrayals. Passiontide asks the soul to look at sin near the wounds of Christ, where excuses lose their power and mercy becomes grave and beautiful.
Virtue to practice
Compunction and reparation.
Error to resist
The shallow Lent that wants discipline without entering the sorrow and love of the Passion.
For the pilgrim in exile
Walk more quietly now. Passiontide teaches the exile to stay near Christ when His glory is veiled and His enemies gather.
Imitate today
- Make an act of reparation to the suffering Christ.
- Keep a little silence in honor of His Passion.
- Accept contradictions without complaint.
- Name your sins plainly before God and ask for hatred of them.

Do not flee the veiled days. Nearness to the Passion teaches the soul how to remain faithful when Christ is contradicted.

Meditation
The Cross in Exile
Humiliation, opposition, and penance do not mean that God has ceased to govern. Our Lord redeemed the world through His obedient suffering on the Cross. When Catholics accept unavoidable trials without sin, perform penance, and continue obeying the truth, those sufferings can humble pride and deepen fidelity rather than lead to despair.

Practice
The day should become obedience.
Examine religious claims by asking whether they agree with the Catholic Church identified by her four marks, rather than judging by impression or preference.
