Receive this day from God.
Humiliation, opposition, and penance do not mean that God has ceased to govern. Our Lord redeemed the world through His obedient suffering on the Cross. When Catholics accept unavoidable trials without sin, perform penance, and continue obeying the truth, those sufferings can humble pride and deepen fidelity rather than lead to despair.
Ask Our Lady to increase her faithful servants and, through them, establish the reign of Jesus across every part of life.

“I feel myself more than ever animated to believe and to hope all which I have had deeply engraven upon my heart, and have asked of God these many years, namely, that sooner or later the Blessed Virgin shall have more children, servants, and slaves of love than ever; and that, by this means, Jesus Christ, my dear Master, shall reign more in hearts than ever.”
The saint states the end without ambiguity: the increase of Our Lady's faithful servants exists so that Jesus Christ may reign more in hearts. Marian devotion is measured by this Christward fruit—stronger faith in His doctrine, greater worship of His Majesty, firmer obedience to His commandments, deeper love of His Cross, and more ardent labor for souls.
Hope must become cooperation. Pray for the spread of true devotion, teach it accurately, embody it without contradiction, resist counterfeits, and help families and souls establish a durable rule of Catholic life. Never seek a Marian identity detached from Christ's reign or use love of unity to conceal error and compromise.

Offer the day before spending it
Prayer gives the day its right beginning and its right end. Before work, conversation, news, or distraction claims the mind, adore the Blessed Trinity and offer every prayer, work, joy, suffering, and temptation to Jesus through Mary. Ask your Guardian Angel for help, and place the souls and needs entrusted to you beneath God's will.
Begin simply. Make the Morning Offering through the hands of Our Lady. Pray the Three Hail Marys for purity and final perseverance, ask your Guardian Angel to govern the senses and imagination, and name the soul or intention for which today's prayers and sacrifices will be offered. Do not rush these acts merely because they are familiar; let them place the whole day beneath God before the world begins to claim it.
O Lord, keep me faithful to what Thy Church received: doctrine, worship, discipline, and holy memory. Preserve me from novelty and from empty nostalgia alike.

St. Bede the Venerable, Priest, Commentary on St. Luke
“The lips, that before were dumb, are opened that their mouth may show forth the praise of God.”
- The Breviary reads the dumb demoniac as both a bodily miracle and a spiritual image of conversion.
- St. Bede teaches that when the devil is cast out, the eyes see the light of faith and the lips are opened to praise God.
- Christ knows the hidden thoughts of His accusers and exposes the folly of attributing divine deliverance to the kingdom of Satan.
Ask Christ to cast out whatever makes the soul mute before God. True deliverance restores sight, speech, praise, and allegiance.

Third Sunday of Lent - Luke 11:14-28
“He that is not with me, is against me.”
Do not fear the combat, but do not fight it empty. Let prayer, confession, work, and holy reading occupy the house of the soul.
Receive the Church's lesson
Christ exposes the kingdom of Satan and refuses neutral ground in the spiritual combat.
The soul must not be swept clean only to be left empty; it must be possessed by obedience to God.
This Gospel corrects a danger that can quietly deform Catholic judgment: The neutrality that wants Christ without taking sides against sin. Ask where that danger seeks your consent today, and answer it with the act Our Lord requires.

The Third Sunday of Lent shows Christ casting out a devil and warning that he who is not with Him is against Him.
The day teaches spiritual combat plainly: the cleansed soul must not remain empty, and deliverance must be guarded by obedience, prayer, and fidelity to the word of God.
Do not leave the house swept and empty. In exile, the soul survives by belonging actively and entirely to Christ.

St. Gabriel the Archangel
Heavenly messenger of the Incarnation.
St. Gabriel is honored as the archangel sent from God to announce the mystery of the Incarnation to the Blessed Virgin Mary.
His witness teaches that heavenly strength is obedient, reverent, and wholly ordered to the word of God.
Ask St. Gabriel for a listening heart. Great graces often arrive as a word to be obeyed before it is fully understood.

Unity Without Truth Is Not Catholic Unity
Remain here for a little while. The purpose is not to gather another fact, but to allow today's Catholic truth to judge the heart, strengthen the will, and become an act offered to God.
The Church places this truth before you today: Catholic unity is unity in the faith, sacraments, worship, and lawful order of the Church. It is not agreement to ignore contradiction. Do not hurry past it as though doctrine belonged only to books and controversies. A revealed truth is also a light by which the soul must judge its loyalties, its fears, its habits, and the duties immediately before it. The Church unites by truth and grace; she cannot found unity on silence about error.
The grace to be practiced is Vigilant purity and decisive allegiance, drawn from today's saintly witness. Ask God for more than the natural appearance of this virtue. Temperament may make an action seem easy for a time, but supernatural virtue remains faithful because God is worthy of obedience, even when feeling offers no assistance and no one notices the cost. Practice Christ-centered Marian zeal by making every honor of Our Lady bear fruit in faith, worship, obedience, virtue, and salvation.
There is also an enemy to recognize: Resist false ecumenism and every peace that asks doctrine to step aside. Do not study this danger only in other people. Look quietly for the door by which it seeks entrance into your own soul - perhaps through delay, curiosity, resentment, human respect, attachment to comfort, or the desire to control the outcome. Dying to self today means choosing vigilant purity and decisive allegiance when pride, comfort, fear, resentment, or human respect asks for control.
Do the faithful act and entrust its fruit to divine Providence, God's wise and loving governance of all things. Place effort and outcome into Our Lady's hands so that the whole offering may be presented to her Divine Son. Confidence in God is not passivity: obey, pray, work, and accept that visible success, consolation, or immediate relief may not be given. God remains faithful when the duty is hidden and the outcome uncertain. Therefore, perform the duty that belongs to you, use the lawful means God has provided, and then surrender the fruit. Accept the labor and opposition involved in spreading true devotion without distortion, compromise, impatience, or self-promotion. Pray, teach, serve, and give example so devotion to Our Lady visibly strengthens the reign of Jesus in hearts and homes.

“Who hath a stronger battle than he that laboureth to overcome himself?”
The decisive field of combat is within. Heresy must be hated, and so must the pride, curiosity, compromise, and self-will by which falsehood finds lodging in the soul.
Many souls desire victory in the Church while making peace with the tyrant within. Begin the restoration where grace has placed authority in your hands: over your next thought, word, appetite, and decision. A hidden victory over self-will is no small service to the City of God.
Today's Practice
Refuse the demands of self-will promptly and without complaint.
Before Night Falls
Return the completed day to God.
Give thanks before measuring the day by feeling or visible success. Ask light to see faults without discouragement, make an Act of Contrition, forgive injuries, and place tomorrow beneath divine Providence.
Examine whether today's Marian devotion enlarged Christ's reign within you and aided its faithful extension to others.
