A privileged call to reparation
First Saturday: Reparation to the Immaculate Heart of Mary
The first Saturday of the month is Our Lady's tender and urgent invitation to make reparation to her Immaculate Heart. She asks the faithful to confess, receive Holy Communion, pray five decades of the Rosary, and keep her company for fifteen minutes while meditating upon its mysteries, on five consecutive first Saturdays. Mary keeps nothing for herself: she gathers souls beneath her mantle in order to form them for Jesus Christ, hatred of sin, and perseverance beneath His Cross.
Our Lady's First Saturday Promise
In the devotion officially published by the Bishop of Leiria in 1939, Our Lady promises to assist at the hour of death, with the graces necessary for salvation, those who fulfill the requested acts on the first Saturday of five consecutive months. This maternal promise calls the soul to reparation, sacramental fidelity, the Rosary, and persevering companionship with Mary in the mysteries of her Divine Son.

The intention
In reparation for blasphemy, ingratitude, impurity, and contempt directed against Our Lady; for the conversion of sinners; and for the grace to imitate her recollection, purity, obedience, and unwavering fidelity to Jesus Christ.
Answer the invitation today
With the intention of making reparation, confess within the permitted time, receive Holy Communion worthily, pray five decades of the Rosary, and keep Our Lady company for fifteen minutes while meditating upon the mysteries of the Rosary. If sacramental participation is impossible today, begin with the acts that are possible and ask for the grace to keep the complete devotion faithfully.
Immaculate Heart of Mary, keep me with thee in the mysteries of Jesus. Obtain for me purity of heart, hatred of sin and heresy, fidelity to the Catholic Faith, and perseverance beneath the Cross. Place this day's prayer and sacrifice in the hands of thy Divine Son.

The Blessed Virgin Mary
Saturday is kept in filial remembrance of Our Lady, who remained faithful when Our Lord lay hidden in the tomb. Walk with Mary toward Jesus by imitating her faith, purity, recollection, and perseverance.

For growth in true devotion to Mary, the conversion of sinners, the protection of purity, and perseverance in the Catholic Faith.
A faithful act
Set the goal of praying the complete traditional Rosary today: all fifteen decades of the Joyful, Sorrowful, and Glorious Mysteries. Offer it for a definite intention, especially for the conversion and salvation of sinners. If the duties of your state require it, pray its three parts at different hours, but persevere toward completing the whole Rosary. Souls are in need: at Fatima, Our Lady warned that many souls go to hell because there is no one to make sacrifices and pray for them.

At Pentecost the Holy Ghost strengthened the apostles to preach Christ publicly and carry the Gospel to the nations. His work is not private excitement separated from doctrine, worship, and the authority Christ established. The faithful should ask Him for zeal that makes them more obedient to revealed truth, more constant in charity, and more courageous in Catholic witness.
Renew every baptismal vow through Our Lady and ask her to make the entire day a complete profession of belonging to Christ.
Formation in True Devotion - Day 280: Review and Deepening: Renewal of Holy Baptism
“Now if the Councils, the Fathers, and experience even, show us that the best means of remedying the irregularities of Christians is by making them call to mind the obligations of their Baptism, and persuading them to renew now the vows they made then, does it not stand to reason that we shall do it in a perfect manner, by this devotion and consecration of ourselves to our Lord, through His holy Mother?”
St. Louis de Montfort unites authority and experience: Councils, Fathers, and the observed disorders of Christians support deliberate remembrance and renewal of Baptism. True devotion supplies the perfect manner because the entire person renews belonging to the Lord through His holy Mother, the most perfect means in God's order.
Do not separate Marian consecration from baptismal conversion. Renewal through Mary must intensify profession of the Faith, hatred of heresy and sin, sacramental fidelity, obedience to commandments, rejection of worldly pomps, mortification of passions, duties of state, and perseverance in Christ. Otherwise the words remain detached from their substance.

Offer the day before spending it
Prayer gives the day its right beginning and its right end. Before work, conversation, news, or distraction claims the mind, adore the Blessed Trinity and offer every prayer, work, joy, suffering, and temptation to Jesus through Mary. Ask your Guardian Angel for help, and place the souls and needs entrusted to you beneath God's will.
Begin simply. Make the Morning Offering through the hands of Our Lady. Pray the Three Hail Marys for purity and final perseverance, ask your Guardian Angel to govern the senses and imagination, and name the soul or intention for which today's prayers and sacrifices will be offered. Do not rush these acts merely because they are familiar; let them place the whole day beneath God before the world begins to claim it.
O Lord Jesus Christ, form in me a filial love for Thy Mother and a faithful love for Thy Church, that purity, doctrine, suffering, and hope may remain joined.

At Nicomedia, the birthday of the blessed martyr John, who seeing the cruel edicts against Christians posted up in the public square, and being inflamed with an ardent faith, stretched forth his hand, took them away and tore them up. This being reported to the emperors Diocletian and Maximian, then residing in that city, they gave orders that he should be subjected to all kinds of torments, which the noble champion bore with such cheerfulness of spirit, as not to show on his countenance the least trace of pain or grief. — At Caesarea, in Cappadocia, in the time of the emperor Adrian, St. Eupsychius, martyr, who, on being accused of professing Christianity, was cast into prison. His release following shortly after, he immediately sold his patrimony, and distributed the proceeds of it partly to the poor and partly to his accusers, whom he regarded as his benefactors. The Saturday Mass of the Blessed Virgin Mary keeps Our Lady before the faithful during ordinary weeks, teaching that Christian perseverance remains Marian: humble, obedient, recollected, and near Christ.
This observance does not turn attention away from Our Lord. It shows the soul how to receive Him: hearing the word of God, keeping it, and remaining faithful when the week has been ordinary.
Let Saturday become a small Marian gate in the week. In exile, ordinary days need a motherly refuge as much as feast days do.

Outside the Church There Is No Salvation
Remain here for a little while. The purpose is not to gather another fact, but to allow today's Catholic truth to judge the heart, strengthen the will, and become an act offered to God.
The Church places this truth before you today: All salvation comes through Christ and His Church; no soul is saved by false religion, indifferentism, or separation loved as separation. Do not hurry past it as though doctrine belonged only to books and controversies. A revealed truth is also a light by which the soul must judge its loyalties, its fears, its habits, and the duties immediately before it. The doctrine does not deny God's mercy. It denies that error, schism, or religious indifference can be treated as paths equal to the Church founded by Christ.
The grace to be practiced is Marian recollection and obedient hearing, drawn from today's saintly witness. Ask God for more than the natural appearance of this virtue. Temperament may make an action seem easy for a time, but supernatural virtue remains faithful because God is worthy of obedience, even when feeling offers no assistance and no one notices the cost. Practice comprehensive renewal by joining Marian dependence to doctrine, worship, moral obedience, mortification, charity, and perseverance.
There is also an enemy to recognize: Resist indifferentism, which treats contradictory religions as though they were equally pleasing to God. Do not study this danger only in other people. Look quietly for the door by which it seeks entrance into your own soul - perhaps through delay, curiosity, resentment, human respect, attachment to comfort, or the desire to control the outcome. Dying to self today means choosing marian recollection and obedient hearing when pride, comfort, fear, resentment, or human respect asks for control.
Do the faithful act and entrust its fruit to divine Providence, God's wise and loving governance of all things. Place effort and outcome into Our Lady's hands so that the whole offering may be presented to her Divine Son. Confidence in God is not passivity: obey, pray, work, and accept that visible success, consolation, or immediate relief may not be given. God remains faithful when the duty is hidden and the outcome uncertain. Therefore, perform the duty that belongs to you, use the lawful means God has provided, and then surrender the fruit. Reject every attempt to keep the consoling language of consecration while withholding the demanding obligations of Baptism. Carry baptismal renunciation and allegiance through every prayer, temptation, duty, relationship, possession, and use of time.

The Pilgrim's Mirror
How shall I imitate Christ today?
“In silence and quietness of heart a devout soul profiteth much and learneth the hidden sentences of Scripture.”
Holy silence is not the absence of sound alone. A room may be quiet while the mind repeats injuries, imagines arguments, and pursues every rumor. Thomas à Kempis asks for quietness of heart: the recollection in which the soul stops scattering itself and becomes able to receive what God has already spoken.
Give Scripture a little protected ground today. Read a few verses slowly, preferably from the day's Gospel, and resist the urge to hurry toward commentary or novelty. Ask what God reveals, what He commands, and what response must be made before the words are allowed to pass.

Keep ten quiet minutes with the day's Gospel, asking what truths it teaches and what commands require your obedience.
Before Night Falls
Return the completed day to God.
Give thanks before measuring the day by feeling or visible success. Ask light to see faults without discouragement, make an Act of Contrition, forgive injuries, and place tomorrow beneath divine Providence.
Judge the consecration by lived baptismal fidelity, repent wherever words exceeded conduct, and renew the entire gift through Mary.
