Receive this day from God.
An ordinary feria asks whether yesterday's light has become today's virtue. Good desires do not yet make the patient, pure, truthful, or courageous soul; repeated acts under grace do. Practice every virtue duty requires, with particular attention to the virtue most opposed by your predominant fault.
Entrust the needs of souls and households to Our Lady, asking her to present them to Jesus according to His will.

“If we examine narrowly the rest of our Blessed Lord's Life, we shall see that it was His Will to begin His miracles by Mary.”
St. John was sanctified at the sound of Mary's greeting because Jesus was present within her; Cana received wine because she presented the need and commanded obedience to her Son. Her intercession never competes with Christ's power. It disposes servants to hear Him: whatsoever He shall say to you, do ye.
Bring real needs to Our Lady, including conversion, perseverance, sickness, family trials, and the souls who have no one to pray for them. Then accept her direction at Cana. Petition must be joined to obedience, and confidence must not become an excuse for retaining sin.

Offer the day before spending it
Prayer gives the day its right beginning and its right end. Before work, conversation, news, or distraction claims the mind, adore the Blessed Trinity and offer every prayer, work, joy, suffering, and temptation to Jesus through Mary. Ask your Guardian Angel for help, and place the souls and needs entrusted to you beneath God's will.
Begin simply. Make the Morning Offering through the hands of Our Lady. Pray the Three Hail Marys for purity and final perseverance, ask your Guardian Angel to govern the senses and imagination, and name the soul or intention for which today's prayers and sacrifices will be offered. Do not rush these acts merely because they are familiar; let them place the whole day beneath God before the world begins to claim it.
O Lord, make doctrine fruitful in habit. Let truth become patience, courage, purity, recollection, penance, charity, and perseverance.

In Africa, two hundred and seventy holy martyrs crowned together. — In the same country, the Saints Martinian and Saturnian with their two brothers. In the reign of the Arian king Genseric, while the persecution of the Vandals was raging, they were slaves belonging to a man of that race, and being converted to the faith of Christ by Maxima, a slave like themselves, they manifested their attachment to the truth with such courage, that they were beaten with rough clubs and lacerated in all parts of their bodies to the very bone. Although this barbarous treatment was continued for a considerable period, their wounds were each time healed over night, wherefore they were at length sent into exile. There they converted many barbarians to the faith, and obtained -from the Roman Pontiff a priest and other ministers to baptize them. Finally they were condemned to die by being dragged through thorns, with their feet tied behind running chariots. Remain here for a little while. The purpose is not to gather another fact, but to allow today's Catholic truth to judge the heart, strengthen the will, and become an act offered to God.
The Church places this truth before you today: The Church must be one, holy, Catholic, and apostolic because she bears the identity Christ gave her, not because men assign those titles by preference. Do not hurry past it as though doctrine belonged only to books and controversies. A revealed truth is also a light by which the soul must judge its loyalties, its fears, its habits, and the duties immediately before it. The marks are tests of recognition. They prevent the faithful from confusing religious intensity, social size, antiquarian taste, or institutional claims with the true Church.
The grace to be practiced is Faithful obedience to the grace of the present day, drawn from the daily rule of fidelity. Ask God for more than the natural appearance of this virtue. Temperament may make an action seem easy for a time, but supernatural virtue remains faithful because God is worthy of obedience, even when feeling offers no assistance and no one notices the cost. Practice obedient confidence: ask generously, obey completely, and leave the manner and hour of the answer to Christ.
There is also an enemy to recognize: Resist treating the marks as poetic language detached from visible doctrine, worship, and apostolic continuity. Do not study this danger only in other people. Look quietly for the door by which it seeks entrance into your own soul - perhaps through delay, curiosity, resentment, human respect, attachment to comfort, or the desire to control the outcome. Dying to self today means choosing faithful obedience to the grace of the present day when pride, comfort, fear, resentment, or human respect asks for control.
Do the faithful act and entrust its fruit to divine Providence, God's wise and loving governance of all things. Place effort and outcome into Our Lady's hands so that the whole offering may be presented to her Divine Son. Confidence in God is not passivity: obey, pray, work, and accept that visible success, consolation, or immediate relief may not be given. God remains faithful when the duty is hidden and the outcome uncertain. Therefore, perform the duty that belongs to you, use the lawful means God has provided, and then surrender the fruit. When the answer is delayed or differs from your expectation, remain beside Mary and continue doing what her Son commands. Offer your Rosary, prayers, sacrifices, and duties for the intentions entrusted to you and for neglected souls in greatest need.

How shall I imitate Christ today?
“Words feed not the soul; but a good life refresheth the mind, and a clean conscience bringeth a man to a firm and stable trust in God.”
Pious speech cannot replace obedience. Peace grows where known duty is fulfilled and forgiven sin is honestly confessed.
The soul sometimes speaks about prayer, holiness, or the crisis in the Church because speaking is easier than amendment. Do not despise true words, but require them first of yourself. Let the repair of neglected duties become proof that truth has entered the will.
Today's Practice
Begin completing the neglected duties you have discussed more than performed, ordering them justly and without further excuse.
Before Night Falls
Return the completed day to God.
Give thanks before measuring the day by feeling or visible success. Ask light to see faults without discouragement, make an Act of Contrition, forgive injuries, and place tomorrow beneath divine Providence.
Thank Jesus for every grace, visible or hidden, and ask whether your petitions were accompanied by faithful obedience.
