73. The Rage of Satan Against the Woman and Her Seed

Devotional Treasury: Sacred Heart, Holy Ghost, Sorrows, Holy Face, Precious Blood.

Apocalypse 12 shows the Woman, the Child, the dragon, the desert, and the of her seed. The chapter is not given for curiosity. It teaches , endurance, and the pattern of persecution against Christ, Mary, and .

The devil hates Mary because she is everything he refused to be: , obedient, , receptive, and wholly ordered to God. He hates because she bears Christ through doctrine, , worship, , and holiness. He hates the faithful because they keep the commandments of God and hold the testimony of Jesus Christ.

The dragon's rage is not random. He hates what reminds him of his defeat. He hates the Incarnation, the Cross, the Mass, the priesthood, true doctrine, , fatherhood, motherhood, virginity, , and Marian devotion.

This explains why attacks on Mary often travel with attacks on . A religion that thins Mary usually thins . A religion that despises Marian usually becomes soft toward . A religion that mocks the Rosary often loses the habit of meditation on Christ's mysteries.

The dragon does not only attack by open . He also attacks by reduction. Mary becomes a symbol without rule, devotion without conversion, compassion without doctrine, motherhood without .

Apocalypse speaks of war against the rest of her seed. That line belongs deeply to in exile. The faithful are not spared conflict because they are faithful. Often they are targeted because they are faithful.

The assault may come through persecution, mockery, isolation, false shepherds, , compromised worship, family division, exhaustion, , and the to bitterness. The must learn to read these trials without panic. The dragon rages because he is not sovereign.

Mary's children therefore do not answer rage with rage. They answer with fidelity: the Rosary, confession, reparation, doctrinal clarity, household order, , prayer, , and refusal of false worship.

Catholic reading does not need to divide the Woman from Mary or from as though one meaning excluded the other. Mary is the personal image of . is Marian in her deepest form. What is seen in the Woman is therefore read with reverence for both the Mother and the ecclesial mystery.

This matters because the present crisis is also a crisis of Marian form. appears humiliated, driven into the desert, contradicted by , and hated by the world. Yet the Woman is not defeated. God prepares a place. The is preserved by fidelity, not by approval.

The rage of Satan against the Woman should sober the faithful, not frighten them into despair. The dragon makes war because he has already been judged. Mary stands within the victory of Christ. Her seed must remain beneath her mantle, not as fugitives from battle, but as children formed for endurance.
