Mary and the Typologies of the Church

33. The Rage of Satan Against the Woman

Mary and the Typologies of the Church: Marian light for ecclesial fidelity in crisis.

"And the dragon was angry against the woman: and went to make war with the rest of her seed." - Apocalypse 12:17

The rage of Satan against the Woman is not a poetic image. It is one of the great scriptural keys to 's warfare. The dragon hates Mary, hates , and hates the faithful who keep the commandments of God and hold fast to the testimony of Christ.

Where the Woman is honored rightly, the serpent is exposed.

Apocalypse 12 shows the Woman clothed with the sun, crowned with stars, and opposed by the dragon. Catholic commentators have seen in her both Mary and , without confusion.

Mary personally bears the victorious Seed. mystically brings forth Christ in souls. The dragon hates both because both belong to God's order of salvation.

The Woman reveals what the serpent cannot conquer.

The dragon is ancient, but his tactics adapt. He attacks , maternity, doctrine, worship, , fatherhood, womanhood, children, and the seed of the Woman.

He does not always appear openly monstrous. He can appear as progress, compassion, liberation, sophistication, unity, or reform.

But the fruit reveals the spirit: hatred of Christ's reign.

The dragon makes war on the rest of her seed. This means the faithful should not be surprised by persecution, mockery, confusion, false shepherds, and spiritual exhaustion.

The faithful who keep God's commandments will always be hated by the spirit of revolt.

The is not hated because it is powerful in terms. It is hated because it belongs to the Woman and her Seed.

Marian devotion is attacked because it preserves realities the serpent hates: , , , motherhood, virginity, suffering love, and the visible distinction between the City of God and the city of rebellion.

False religion may tolerate a softened Mary. It cannot tolerate the Woman who crushes the serpent.

The true Marian image is intolerable to revolution.

The response is not panic. It is fidelity: the Rosary, , , confession, seriousness, doctrinal clarity, family order, and perseverance under the Cross.

The faithful should not answer the dragon with his own spirit. Anger without , without prayer, and bitterness without do not belong beneath Mary's mantle.

The Woman forms warriors who remain children of God.

The rage of Satan against the Woman explains why Marian doctrine, , , motherhood, , and the are all attacked together. They stand in one order against the serpent.

The faithful should ask: Do I recognize the dragon's war? Do I keep the commandments? Do I honor Mary as the Woman against the serpent? Do I resist with prayer, , truth, and perseverance?

The dragon is enraged because he is defeated. The Woman stands because God has clothed her with victory.
