32. The Heel of the Woman: Humility Crushing Pride

Mary and the Typologies of the Church: Marian light for ecclesial fidelity in crisis.

"She shall crush thy head, and thou shalt lie in wait for her heel." - Genesis 3:15

The heel of the Woman teaches one of the deepest laws of spiritual warfare: God crushes through . Lucifer exalted himself. Mary humbled herself. The serpent sought height. The handmaid of the Lord received everything from God.

This is why Satan hates Mary. Her exposes the lie by which he fell.

refuses place. It does not want to receive from God, God, or serve within God's order. It wants to be measure, source, law, and judge.

This is the spirit of the first rebellion. It continues wherever man rejects truth because truth humbles him.

The modern cult of self is not new wisdom. It is the old revolt clothed in current language.

Mary answers by . At the Annunciation she does not seize, negotiate, or redefine. She receives: "Be it done to me according to thy word."

Her is not weakness. It is perfect order. She knows herself as creature, handmaid, virgin, mother, and servant of God's will.

Because she is wholly under God, she is terrible to the serpent.

The heel is lowly. It is not the head raised in display. God chooses the lowly to confound .

This image teaches not to seek victory through vanity, self-advertisement, prestige, or compromise with power. The serpent is crushed by the of Christ and His Mother, by , , prayer, , and truth.

The lowest place becomes the place of victory.

The must learn this law. It may be to because it sees what others refuse to see. But of crisis does not make a soul holy.

asks harder questions: Do I ? Do I pray? Do I dress ? Do I forgive? Do I confess? Do I accept correction? Do I love souls? Do I hate without becoming cruel?

Mary crushes first in her own children.

The age teaches self-expression, self-rule, self-invention, and self-display. Mary teaches self-surrender.

This is why Marian devotion is so necessary. It does not flatter the self. It places the soul beneath a Mother who forms it into Christ's .

The cannot remain safely under her mantle unless they consent to be changed.

The heel of the Woman reveals crushing . Mary is victorious because she is wholly God's. The soul that belongs to her must let be crushed also.

The faithful should ask: Where do I still demand self-rule? Where do I resist correction? Where do I want religious importance more than holiness? Where must I become lowly beneath God?

The serpent is not defeated by Catholics. He is crushed by Christ's victory shining through fidelity.
